Empatic®

Diet Pill Information
Empatic is another weight loss medication being worked on by its maker Orexigen Therapeutics Inc, whose stock symbol OREX is traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Empatic, like Qnexa and Contrave, is the result of mixing two other drugs together. This time the two drugs mixed are Zonisamide and Bupropion. In the testing phases varying amounts of each have been studied. Zonisamide amounts have ranged from 120mg to 360mg using a sustained release formula. The Bupropion amounts have been between 280mg to 360mg also with a sustained release. As an anticonvulsant, Zonisamide is generally prescribed for seizures. Zonisamide has also in the past been studied for Parkinson's disease, migraine headaches and bipolar depression.
In a 24 week test some patients where losing upwards of 10% of their body weight. Side effects discovered during the testing included things like nausea, headache, insomnia, loss of appetite, etc. There is still much testing that needs to be conducted by Orexigen if they hope of bringing this to market one day. It, like tesofensine, is much younger in their development stages compared to those of Qnexa, Contrave and Lorcaserin. With so many drugs being combined to create weight loss, it only makes me wonder when the next combination drug mixture will be investigated in order to achieve desirable weight loss with low side effects.
What I find interesting and personally would like to see it investigated for is how Empatic would fair for people who are taking an anti-depressant (SSRI) and are suffering from weight gain and hypohidrosis as a result of their SSRI.
Many people taking SSRI's experience weight gain and hyperhidrosis. So being that Zonisamide can have side effects of hypohidrosis or reduce sweating. It makes me curious as to the results that may be able to be achieved. However, please note, I am in no way what so ever advocating Empatic could be or should ever be used for this nor should you ever attempt this without a doctor's instruction but I am just curious.
