Diet Pill Information |
Qnexa is another weight loss
drug that has been constructed using two already in use medications. It is a
combination between two low dose amounts of Phentermine and Topiramate. So like
Contrave Qnexa, is not actually a new drug at all but a mixing of two others.
Qnexa is the trademark that Vivus Inc holds consisting of the special mixture
and release formulas. The pairing of a drug with Phentermine is nothing new, the
dreaded Fen-Phen drug was one such diet drug mixed with Phentermine but it turned
out that the drug causing the troubles was the Fenfluramine. It has also been
reported that Lorcaserin if approved could be taken together with Phentermine
but the results of this combination have not been studied and obviously should
never be attempted unless through proper medical means. Phentermine is known
by a few different trademark names such as Adipex®, Duromine®, Ionamin® and others
and is primarily used on its own for weight loss. Topiramate is prescribed
mainly for epilepsy but has also been associated with some degree of weight loss
but not approved as such it is also known by a trademarked name of Topamax®.
Vivus has poured years of research and development into the making and testing
of Qnexa and submitted it to the FDA in anticipation of having it approved December
29th, 2009. Qnexa is to go under the microscope by an FDA advisory committee
July 15th 2010. The results of this meeting should be an indication as to what
the FDA will decide October 28th, 2010. In clinical testing Qnexa preformed quit well with patients losing significant amounts of weight. In approximately a six month period users averages around the 10% weight loss mark, where as by just over one years time averaging 15%. These results are seen as the best in terms of weight loss compared to other obesity drugs. Qnexa has also been linked to helping out sleep apnea patients and improving high blood pressure. However one should always be aware that with prescription medications often come side effects for some users. During testing phases Qnexa was reported to have caused in some of its patients the feeling of tingling in their body, headaches, nausea, dry mouth insomnia, altered tastes among others. These side effects ranged in the mild to moderate levels. It is most likely that it will be these reported side effects that determine the FDA's decision on whether or not Qnexa is approved. If the trend has been the same with the FDA, don't expect any inattentive assessment of it. |
